About this site
I'm Aynsley Norman Damery, the compiler of this history and the latest in the long line of Damerys these pages trace. What began with my father Norman's boxes of papers, hand-drawn trees and decades of correspondence became the research project behind the printed family book, Tu Ne Cede Malis: A Family History of knights, gentry and yeomen, and this site: the family's story, told from the records that survive, with every claim graded honestly: ✓ documented, ~ plausible, ? open.
Away from the archives, check out aynsleydamery.com, where you can find more about me and my work.
And a note on ancestry of another kind. This site's second address, damery.org, carried the family's story long before I did: around 2000 it was "the Damery Website", kept by Scott and Kathy Damery of the United States, with a history of the name that cousins recommended to one another on the old genealogy forums. Their site is gone, but the address now points here, and I hope this one is worthy of the torch.
Amendments & additions
Family history is never finished. If you spot an error, can add a date, a photograph or a story, or if you are a Damery, a Jones, an Elliott, a cousin of any of the families in these pages and want to compare notes, I would be delighted to hear from you. Every correction is checked against the records and credited.
Write to me at hello@aynsleydamery.com.
For conversation rather than correspondence, there is a family discussion group on Facebook, open to Damerys, cousins and the simply curious: join the Damery family group.
And if you keep a tree of your own on Ancestry, Geni, FamilySearch or elsewhere, you are very welcome to link to this site: to the home page, or straight to an ancestor's own page here. It helps cousins find the research, and every link helps the next searcher land somewhere the claims are graded.
Privacy
This is a personal, non-commercial family history. Living or possibly-living people appear with minimal detail (a name and at most a year of birth) and never with addresses, contact details or photographs published without their blessing. If you are named here and would like anything amended or removed, write to me at the address above and it will be done. The site itself sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking of any kind; its host (Netlify) keeps ordinary server logs, as all web hosts do. That is the whole policy.
