About
Adalbert (c.936-971), co-King of Italy, was crowned beside his father Berengar II and kept fighting after Otto the Great had broken the family's cause; twice raising armies in Lombardy before dying in exile in Burgundy. His widow Gerberga founded their son's fortune instead: through that line the counts of Burgundy, and this family, descend from the last native kings of Italy.
