About

Alfonso II (1157-1196) was the first to wear the united Crown of Aragon; King of Aragon and Count of Barcelona together, son of Petronilla and Ramon Berenguer IV; and a troubadour himself: verses of his survive, and his court fed the poets who fed Europe's. He gathered Provence to the crown and partitioned his realms between his sons. Our descent runs through Alfonso of Provence.
