About
Alfonso V (994-1028), King of León, gave his city the Fuero of León in 1017; among the earliest territorial charters of liberties in Europe, rebuilding a capital al-Mansur had burned. He was killed young, struck by an arrow while besieging Moorish Viseu. Our line runs through his daughter Sancha.
