Durham; wife of Brian fitz Alan of Bedale, who had 5 carucates in Hurworth with her in free marriage; she and her brother Gilbert were in the custody of Bishop Hugh of Durham (d.1195) as heirs of their father (pleas 1211-12). Clay identifies the place as Hurworth Bryan (Hurworth-on-the-Moor, par. Kelloe), not Hurworth-on-Tees as Complete Peerage has it.
