✓ Aline, daughter and heir of Sir Philip Basset of Wycombe, Compton Bassett and Wootton Bassett, Justiciar of England, by his first wife Hawise de Lovaine; m. in or before 1260 Hugh le Despenser the Justiciar (I100135); mother of Hugh, Earl of Winchester (I100090) - 'Philip left [the ransom of the forfeited lands] to his da. Aline, who left it to Hugh, her son and heir' (Close Roll 9 Edw. I). Had a life grant of Loughborough, Freeby and Hugglescote 5 Oct 1265 after her husband fell at Evesham; m.
