Arthur Freke

Son of William Freke x Anne Swaine; brother of our Elizabeth Freke. THE FREKE ARRIVAL IN WEST CORK: per Burke's pedigree of Freke of West Bilney (Extinct & Dormant Baronetcies), he "removed with his [father] into Ireland... lived near the city of Cork, and marrying Dorothy, daughter of Sir Piercy Smith of Youghal, had a son, Piercy Freke, esq. who enjoyed a fair estate in the county of Cork." Ancestor of the Frekes of West Bilney, Norfolk (Sir Ralph Freke, Bt. 1713) and, via the heiress Grace Freke (m. 1741 Hon. John Evans), connected to the Evans-Freke Barons Carbery. He is the mechanism by which the Frekes entered the West Cork gentry world our line married into. June 1741 John Evans of Bulgaden Hall, whence the EVANS-FREKE BARONS CARBERY - the barony named for the very West Cork barony of the Damery homeland, and the Castle Freke family who were the Joneses' landlords at Drombeg. So the Drombeg landlords and the Barons Carbery both descend from the brother of our ancestress Elizabeth Freke - COLLATERAL kin, recorded not wired.
