✓ DOCUMENTED as to the relationship (Burke's LGI 'Ievers of Mount Ievers' p.342, photographed 6 Aug 2026: 'Ellen, only dau. of Augustene Fitzgerald, of Moy Castle'): AUGUSTINE FITZGERALD, of MOY CASTLE, co. Clare (fl. late 17th c.); father of Ellen (I100163, our line). DOCUMENTED FLOOR pending further research - EXTENDABLE: the Clare FitzGeralds of Moy/Carrigoran (the 'McThomas Geraldines'; a later Col. Augustine FitzGerald of Moy and Sixmilebridge d.1776 was of this house) have a pedigree c.1680-1809 in the NATIONAL LIBRARY OF IRELAND ('Fitzgerald of Carrogoran & Castlekeale') and a modern study (the Carrigoran FitzGerald paper). A promising door: this line may climb toward the Desmond Geraldines. ||CARRIGORAN PAPER READ 6 Aug 2026 (Aynsley supplied 'The FitzGerald Family of Carrigoran, Newmarket-on-Fergus, Co. Clare', 2013)|| The Moy/Sixmilebridge/Silvergrove FitzGeralds belong to the CARRIGORAN kin-group: a Genealogical Office (Dublin) pedigree makes Capt. Edward FitzGerald of Rynana & Carrigoran (granted Carrigoran 1678) son of GARRETT FITZGERALD of PALLAS (d.1637), of the McTHOMAS GERALDINES of Pallas, Co. Limerick - which the GO pedigree calls an early offshoot of the house of KILDARE, while the Knight-of-Kerry pedigree in Burke's traces the same McThomas line to THOMAS FITZMAURICE (d.1213/14) of SHANID - i.e., toward the DESMOND Geraldines. The two authorities disagree (Kildare vs Desmond offshoot); both recorded, neither hardened. Col. AUGUSTINE FITZGERALD of Moy & Sixmilebridge (d.1776) - 'said to be a relative' of Carrigoran, party to the 1762 Carrigoran marriage settlement, left Moy & Silvergrove to Edward of Carrigoran - is of this group; OUR Augustine of Moy Castle (fl. c.1690s, Ellen's father) is very likely his father or grandfather, but the connecting rung is NOT yet proven. NEXT DOCUMENT: the NLI pedigree 'Fitzgerald of Carrogoran & Castlekeale c.1680-1809' and the GO Pallas pedigree. Anne Hickman of Ballyket, (2) CHARLES of CASTLEKEALE (will dtd 19 Jan 1771, pr. 20 Nov 1776) m. Alice Colpoys [their sons incl. an AUGUSTINE - two generations too late to be ours], + 5 daus (Connory, Stackpole, Brown, Butler, Ellinor) -> Edward of Carrogoran m. Rachel Grady (dau. of Standish Grady of Elton by Mary Hungerford of Great Island, Co. Cork; d.1768) -> Lt-Col. Augustine, MP. ⚠ VERDICT: the registered pedigree STARTS at Capt. Edward and contains NO Garrett of Pallas, NO Moy branch, and NO Augustine of the right generation (fl. 1680s-1700s) - OUR rung (Ellen's father Augustine of Moy Castle -> this kin-group) is NOT proven by this document. The name Augustine recurring in the Castlekeale branch supports kinship of the Moy Augustines to this family but proves nothing. NEXT DOCUMENTS: (a) the GO 'Pallas' pedigree cited at footnote 6 of the Carrigoran paper (exact GO MS number needed - check the paper's endnote); (b) BETHAM'S WILL ABSTRACTS (GO) for Col. Augustine FitzGerald of Moy d.1776 and Charles of Castlekeale (will pr. 1776) - abstracts survive though originals burned 1922, and a will abstract naming kin is the likeliest single document to close this; (c) the marriage settlement of John Ievers x Ellen FitzGerald (c.1700s), which would name her father directly. ||GO MS 168 pp.76-77 & 128-131 READ 6 Aug 2026|| The registered Ballynard/Ardstraw FitzGerald pedigree (certified 1811 by Betham/Ulster and 1824) with its PROOFS settles the offshoot question at registered-pedigree level: the Limerick McThomas Geraldines (Ballynard - 'descended from William, 3rd [also styled 5th] son to the KNIGHT OF GLYN, ancestor to the Family of Ballinard', p.129-130) are DESMOND-side Geraldines, cadets of the Knights of Glin of Shanid - and the pedigree is crowned with the arms and the war-cry SHANNET-A-BOO (Shanid Abu), the Desmond cry itself. The lone 'house of Kildare' claim in the Carrigoran paper's GO source is now outweighed: the kin-group our Moy Augustines belong to is DESMOND, not Kildare. The proofs chart (p.129) runs from GERALD DE WINSOR Constable of Pembroke x NESTA dau of Rhys Prince of South Wales -> Maurice FitzGerald the Conqueror of Ireland (d. 1 Sep 1177) -> Thomas fitz Maurice (d.1207) -> John fitz Thomas Lord of Decies and Desmond (d.1260, Tralee) -> ... -> Maurice created EARL OF DESMOND 27 Aug 1329 -> the Desmond earls to the last Earl executed - i.e., the identical Geraldine root already wired in this tree (Gerald of Windsor I99838 x Nest I99839, Maurice the Invader I99837), independently corroborated by a registered GO pedigree. Mary Colpoys, grand-daus Alice Blood + Alice Pearce - EXACTLY matching GO MS 168 p.57. *** ANALYSIS: the Colonel of Moy/Sixmilebridge died CHILDLESS (no issue named); his heir-designate = AUGUSTIN(E), son of EDWARD FITZGERALD of STONE HALL (= Edward of Carrigoran, 1736-1814, whose father James was 'of Stonehall' on the Kilnasoolagh tablet; that Augustine = the future 1st Baronet) - CONFIRMING the 1776 Moy/Silvergrove inheritance by Carrigoran and PROVING the Colonel regarded Carrigoran as his kin. Family shape of the Moy branch now defined: Col. AUGUSTINE (d.1776 s.p., m. Mercy [Ryan of Silvergrove]) + brother WILLIAM (an illegitimate son James) + a sister or sister-in-law behind nephew Major Wm Walcott + Molony godson-kin (cf. Lambert Molony in the 1762 settlement). ⚠ The will does NOT name the Colonel's father - the rung to OUR Augustine of Moy Castle (fl.1690s) is still open, but the frame is now tight: our Augustine is very likely the father or grandfather of the Colonel and William. Notebook pp.138-9: Wm Fitzgerald of BALLYROAN, Queens Co, Esq (dtd 28 Jan, pr. 24 Oct 1775; wife Elizabeth, son Charles, grandsons Wm/Charles/Thomas/Ephraim, daus Elizabeth/Rebecca, natural dau Winefred, brother John, sister Ann RYAN, nephews Thos+James RYAN) - wrong county, natural DAUGHTER not the bastard son James, no Augustine; NOT the Colonels brother (the Ryan kin noted as a curiosity only, given Mercy Ryan). The 1752 settlement's AUGUSTINE IEVERS (the Colonel-of-Moy-era grandson) supports the Augustine naming line. ||BRIDGE TIGHTENED 6 Aug 2026 (RD memorial 66547 image)|| The 1738 deed adds WILLIAM FITZGERALD OF SIXMILEBRIDGE (I100217), whose daughter Elizabeth m. 'her cousin' Col. Henry Ievers - the cousinship fitting William as ELLEN'S BROTHER, i.e. a son of THIS Augustine. Working family shape (grade ~): AUGUSTINE of Moy Castle -> Ellen (m. Ievers), William of Sixmilebridge, and (probably) Col. Augustine d.1776 s.p. One filiation document closes it. Also noted: John WESTROPP of Lismehan as 2nd party - the Ievers-Westropp-FitzGerald kin-web of the maternal ladder in a single deed.
