About
Beatrice was the wife of Aubrey de Vere, the Domesday tenant, and her parentage is unknown. She is not quite invisible, though: in 1086 an unnamed wife of Aubrey de Vere is recorded holding land in Essex of the Bishop of Bayeux, and being accused of a small encroachment on the King's land. It is the earliest glimpse of a woman in this family, and she is in trouble with the authorities.
