Research notes

✓ Borivoj I ([852/53]-[900]), first Christian duke of the Bohemians, baptised by St Methodius in the reign of Svatopluk of Moravia (Chronica Boemorum; Cronica Principum Regni Boemiae: 'Borzywoy primus Dux christianus in Boemia' baptised 'cum coniuge sua beata Ludmilla'); founded Prague; father of Spytihnev and Vratislav I. Probably the 'Goriwei' among the Bohemian dukes of 872 (Annales Fuldenses). TOP - DELIBERATE STOP: Cosmas names his father as Hostivit, last of a list of dukes from Premysl ('It is not known whether this list represents actual historical figures'). Source: Medieval Lands (fmg.ac, Cawley), read 5 Nov 2026: 'Bohemia' (Premyslid dukes).
