About

Bran mac Maelmorda, King of Leinster, died in 947, in the hard middle of the Viking century, when Dublin was a Norse kingdom on Leinster's doorstep and every king of the province ruled with one eye on the fleet. Two generations later his house would face Brian Boru - and, in time, marry into his blood, as this very ancestry shows.
