About
Cairpre mac Diarmata (died 876), King of Ui Cheinnselaig, is the ninth-century head of the documented chain: above him the pedigree runs on, but the annals go quiet.
Research notes
~ ANNAL-ATTESTED PERSON (obit 876, king of Ui Ch.); filiation to Cinaed = son's patronymic + Genelach ('...m. Carpre m. Diarmata...'); the 59-year gap between obits noted (father-son plausible, unverifiable further). *** FRONTIER - THE HONEST CEILING OF THIS SPINE (8 Oct 2026): above Cairpre the Genelach continues ('...m. Diarmata m. Rudgaile m. Aeda...') through NON-KING rungs known ONLY from the genealogies - NOTE-ONLY, not wired. The famous deeper names stay note-only termini: AED MAC COLGGEN (k.738 at Ath Senaig, King of Leinster) if the 'Aeda' is he (unproven); BRANDUB MAC ECHACH (d.605, victor of Dun Bolg) belongs to ANOTHER Ui Ch. branch - do NOT graft; CRIMTHANN MAC ENNAI (d.483, annal obit, baptized by St Patrick per the Patrician dossier) and the eponym ENNA CENNSELACH are real attested figures but the ~400 years of filiations between them and Cairpre are genealogy-only. Same ruling as the Cerdic/Woden and Mael-na-mBo frontiers: the people are historical, the chain is not provable - wire nothing above this line without new multi-strand evidence. *** Wired 8 Oct 2026.
