About
Conor O'Brien, third Earl of Thomond, was head of the royal O'Briens, the house that descends from Brian Boru. He supported the English at first, took up arms against them in the winter of 1569, submitted within months and was pardoned before the year was out, which was a common enough shape of career for a Gaelic lord in that generation. He died in the January of 1591. His daughter Honora married a Baron of Kerry and brought the O'Brien blood into this family.

Jan 1590/1) - initially supported the English, took up arms Jan 1569/70, soon submitted and was pardoned late 1570; m. 1st Eveleen (d.1581), dau. of Donald MacCarthy (of the MacCarthy Mor); m. 2nd Owney/Una (d.1589), dau. of Turlogh O'Brien of Arra. Father of Lady Honora (our line, m. c.1594 the Baron Kerry & Lixnaw - our tree's 16th Baron per the Lansdowne numbering; Inchiquin styles him "17th Baron", the same edition-numbering wobble already flagged) and of Donough 'the Great Earl' (4th Earl, collateral).
