About

Constantine I (Causantín mac Cináeda, r.862-877), King of the Picts, ruled through the darkest years of the Viking storm: the great heathen army's kinsmen took Dumbarton in 870 and carried off captives by the fleet-load, and Constantine himself was killed fighting the Norsemen in 877, by tradition at the Black Cave in Fife. His son Donald II continues our line.
