Research notes

✓ Cormac Fionn Mac Carthaigh, King of Desmond c.1244-1247. AI 1248.1: 'Cormac son of Domnall Mór Mac Carthaig, king of Desmumu, died in his own encampment at Mag Senglaise'; MCB 1247.1: 'Cormac Fionn son of Domhnall Mór Mac Carthaigh died in his own encampment at Magh Seanghlaisse, and there was a great earthquake in Ireland, Scotland, and Wales this year.' Father of Domhnall Ruadh (I101779): MCB 1262.2 'Domhnall Ruadh son of Cormac Fionn Mac Carthaigh' - who marched with the Justiciar William de Dene and the Geraldines to Callan in 1261/2, where John fitz Thomas and Maurice fitz John (I100239, I101748, also our ancestors) were killed. WIFE note-only: a gloss at AI 1253.4 records 'Mór, daughter of Conchobar son of Tairdelbach Ó Briain [and] wife of Cormac Mac Carthaig - and there was no woman in her time better than she - rested in Christ at Cell Lonáin' (1253); probably Cormac Fionn's widow, but not stated to be Domhnall Ruadh's mother, so not wired.
