Elizabeth Norton

~ Elizabeth Norton, wife of Augustine FitzGerald of Moy Castle and mother of Ellen (wife of John Ievers); said to be daughter of Capt. George Norton of Moy and niece of Capt. Arthur Blennerhassett ('49 officer, d.1696), Augustine coming into Moy Castle by the marriage (Mount Ievers house history, mountieverscourt.ie). No document yet states the marriage - grade ~. Supporting: the Nortons held Moy before Augustine (George Norton held 'Moy (near Lahinch)' for the English in 1641-2, and was a Thomond tenant at Kilfarboy 1659/1664 - Frost); Augustine 'of Moigh Castle' by 1698/9 (Inchiquin MSS); and William FitzGerald of Moy Castle (probably her son) had a son named Norton FitzGerald (of the Middle Temple, d.1721; Genealogists' Magazine 1932).
