Galindo Aznarez the First enlarged the county of Aragon in the valleys of the high Pyrenees, fortifying Jaca's hinterland, and died about 867. The dynasty's charters survive in the cartulary of San Juan de la Pena, the mountain monastery that was the little county's memory.
