About
García Ramírez 'the Restorer' (d.1150), King of Navarre, resurrected his kingdom: when Alfonso the Battler died in 1134 leaving his realms to the crusading orders, the Navarrese fetched García; grandson of the Cid on his mother's side, of Navarrese kings on his father's; and crowned him at Pamplona, restoring a monarchy that had been swallowed by Aragon for sixty years. His granddaughter Berengaria married Richard the Lionheart; our own line runs through his daughter Blanca of Castile's marriage.
