Gerald FitzGerald, fifth Earl of Kildare, held the earldom across the turn of the fifteenth century, in the generation the English of Ireland began calling the land's decay. The peerage authorities cannot agree whether he died in 1410 or 1432, and this record keeps both dates honestly rather than choosing by preference. He married Margaret Rochfort, and the line runs to his son the sixth Earl.
