About
Gerloc (d. after 969), baptised Adele, was the daughter of Rollo the Viking founder of Normandy; born a pagan chieftain's daughter, she died a Christian countess. Married to William Towhead, Count of Poitou, she was mother of Adelaide of Aquitaine, queen of Hugh Capet: so Rollo's blood entered the Capetian royal line in its very first generation. It runs from her to us.
