About
Gruffydd Dwnn of Kidwelly fought at Agincourt in 1415 and through the long French wars after it, serving as Lieutenant of Cherbourg - a Welsh soldier of the generation that made Welsh archery an English legend. He married Joan Scudamore, Glyndwr's granddaughter, which put the rebel's blood in a king's-army veteran's cradle; their son was Sir John Donne of the Memling triptych.
