Henry Ievers Col.

Colonel Henry Ievers built Mount Ievers Court in County Clare, begun in 1736, which is one of the most admired houses in Ireland: tall, plain, perfectly proportioned, and said to have cost the family more than it could comfortably afford. It still stands, and it is still in the family's hands.

Fitzgerald, of Silver Grove', d. 1752 - vs our documented Henry (b.1696, m. 1st Anne Craven 1724, builder of Mount Ievers, d. 26 May 1758 per Bunbury/mountieverscourt.ie). Possibly a second marriage or Burke conflation; the Craven marriage and our Mary's descent stand on the modern sources; Burke variant recorded, NOT overwritten, pending reconciliation. ||DISCREPANCY RESOLVED 6 Aug 2026 (RD memorial 66547, image read)|| Burke's 'm. his cousin Elizabeth, dau. of Col. Fitzgerald of Silver Grove' and Bunbury's 'm. 1st Anne Craven 1724' are BOTH right: TWO WIVES. The 1738 deed shows Henry of Mount Ievers with wife ELIZABETH ALS FITZGERALD, dau. of Wm FitzGerald of Sixmilebridge (I100216, 2nd wife - Anne Craven evidently d. by 1738). Our Mary descends from Anne Craven; the d.1752-vs-1758 date conflict remains open. ||MAYORALTY & DEATH RESOLVED 8 Aug 2026|| The Mount Ievers page (read 8 Aug) confirms: High Sheriff of Limerick 1743, ELECTED Mayor 'two years later' (elected 1745, serving 1746 per the mayoral list - both dates are right); Colonel of the Clare Militia Dragoons through the '45; buried St Peter's, Aungier Street, Dublin, 26 May (or Mar) 1758 - which supports our 1758 death against Burke's stray 'd. 1752'. He was NOT the victim of the White memoir's Sixmilebridge shooting - that story is fiction (see his daughter Mary's note for the full resolution). His first marriage (1724, Anne Craven) produced only Mary, our ancestress. ||INDEPENDENTLY CORROBORATED 24 Aug 2026 (mountieverscourt.ie, 'Colonel Henry Ievers (1696-1758)', supplied by Aynsley)|| The Mount Ievers Court estate's own history confirms every element of the 8 Aug ruling: eldest son of Col. John Ievers, succeeded 1729; High Sheriff of Limerick 1743, ELECTED MAYOR OF LIMERICK 1745; built Mount Ievers (Rothery, after Chevening); m. (1) 1724 ANNE CRAVEN - 'with whom he had a daughter MARY... her first husband was NEWPORT WHITE' (our line, Kilmoylan, d. 13 Apr 1780) - and (2) his cousin Elizabeth Fitzgerald of Silver Grove; buried St Peter's, Aungier Street, Dublin, 26 May 1758. NO shooting - dies in his bed, exactly as ruled; J.D. White's Sixmilebridge tale stays fiction.
