✓ Hugh de Morville, lord of Burgh-by-Sands, Cumberland (d. 1201), son of Simon de Morville by Ada Engaine: Richard de Lucy's Wetheral charter gives the salt-pans at Burgh 'which Simon de Morvilla and Hugo de Morvilla confirmed' from the gift of Ralph Engaine and William his son [Ada's ancestors]. 'Hug de Morevill' fined 1200 for the marriage of his daughter to Richard of Egremont; 'Hug de Morevill et Helew uxor eius' fined 1200 for her dower in Westmorland; 1201 William Briwerre bought the marriage of his daughter and heir. Medieval Lands shows that he was NOT the Hugh de Morville of Knaresborough and Westmorland who murdered Becket (a son of Hugh the Constable, I100752), nor is Simon shown as a son of the Constable - so no ring onto the Scottish Morvilles is asserted. m. (after 1184) Helewise de Stuteville, widow of William II de Lancaster. Daughters Ada (Lucy; our line) and Joan (Gernon).
