About
Isabel of Scotland was a natural daughter of William the Lion and married Robert de Ros, one of the Magna Carta sureties. Through her the Scottish royal house enters this family, and it enters it, as so much else here does, by an illegitimacy that nobody at the time thought worth concealing.
