✓ Jane, da. of John FitzEdmond Thweng of Cornborough near Sheriff Hutton (d. 1369, IPM), and eventual heiress of her brother Marmaduke Thweng of Cornborough (d. 1426); wife of John de Westhorpe of Brompton (d. 1430); taxed with him 1381. Through her the Westropps obtained Cornborough (a third of it recovered by her great-grandson Richard in 1495 on proof of this descent). THE THWENG DOOR: the Thwengs of Cornborough were a branch of the Thwengs of Kilton (Marmaduke de Thweng, 1st Lord Thweng, d. 1323); John FitzEdmond's place in that family is to be established - CP XII/2 'Thweng' (not online), the Yorkshire Visitations and VCH North Riding (Sheriff Hutton) are the sources. Her father not yet wired. IPM VIII 524) son of John and Joan (IPM VIII 659), John being the brother of Marmaduke 1st Lord Thweng and a younger son of Marmaduke de Thweng of Kilton by Lucy de Brus, coheir of Skelton (VCH Sheriff Hutton; CP 1st ed. VII 400; Cal. IPM I 800). The Thweng door is open: the line runs through the Bruses of Skelton and the barons of Kendal to William I de Lancaster and Gundred de Warenne, both already in the tree.
