✓ Joan, wife of Rowland FitzEustace, 1st Baron of Portlester (I100467), and mother of Alison (I99827) who m. c.1470 Gerald 8th Earl of Kildare: CP VII 'Kildare' p.232 'Joan, widow of Christopher (Plunket), 1st Lord Killeen'. Her maiden name is not given by CP here; to be checked against CP 'Killeen' (vol. VII) and 'Portlester' (vol. X, not online). Previously Roland's wife was unresolved. Source: Complete Peerage 2nd edn vol. VII (1929), 'Kildare' pp.219-232, read 26 Oct 2026 (archive.org djvu text). [DIRECT ANCESTOR OF THE COMPILER: flag added 26 Oct 2026 by walking the tree from Aynsley, so that this marker is reliable and can be searched.] ||26 Oct 2026|| Surname found: CP VII 'Killeen' p.250 - Christopher Plunket, 1st Lord Killeen, 'm., in or before 1432, Joan Bellew. He d. before 18 Apr. 1455, when Joan (Jenet) his widow sought to recover £100 due to him from Christopher (Fleming), Lord Slane. She m. Sir Rowland FitzEustace, Knt., lord of Portlester, who was cr. Baron Portlester 5 Mar. 1461/2. She was living in 1463.' Her Bellew parentage is not given. Source: Complete Peerage 2nd edn vol. VII (1929), 'Killeen' p.250, read 26 Oct 2026. ||26 Oct 2026|| Lodge, Peerage of Ireland (1789) vi p.[Killeen/Fingall]: 'Sir John, the second Lord of Killeen, married Jenet, daughter of [blank] Bellew, and by her (who remarried with Sir Rowland Eustace, and was mother, by him, of Alison, Countess of Kildare) had Sir Christopher Plunket, Knt., the third Lord of Killeen, who married first Genet, daughter of Bellew of Bellewstown'. Lodge thus attaches her to John rather than Christopher (CP VII corrects this: Christopher, d. bef. 1455) and leaves her father's name blank; the Bellewstown Bellews (co. Meath) are the likely family but no father is identified. DEAD END for now.
