Joan de Hastang

~ Joan, widow of Sir Roger de Swynnerton (d. 1298) and mother of Sir Roger, Lord Swynnerton (assize 1299). The Swynnerton account believes her a da. of Sir Robert de Hastang of Chebsey, on an Ashmolean pedigree (MS 799, p. 239) which makes 'Joan, wife of Sir Roger de Swynnerton' mother of 'Roger ... father of Sir Thomas, father of Robert' - hence ~ for the surname.
