~ Joan, daughter of Baldwin le Tyas (Teutonicus) and widow of Sir Robert de Hoyland (d. early in Edward I's reign); first wife of Sir John de Byron (VCH fn.29). ~ as mother of Sir Richard (d. c.1347): VCH implies it (Alice is the 2nd wife) but does not state it.
