Research notes

✓ John FitzGerald, called Cam ('Crooked'), s. and h. of John 6th Earl of Kildare (I99829); never recognised as Earl though he probably survived his father many years; father of Thomas 7th Earl (I99828), who 'was not called Earl until circa 1456' (CP VII p.227). The Four Masters (1585) give the descent 'John Cam - son Thomas - son Gerald - son Gerald - son Gerald'. His wife is NOT identified by CP (the 'Margaret de la Herne / daughter of Basset / daughter of a butcher / daughter of Lord Bourchier' statements all attach to his father the 6th Earl).
