Weaver; father of Cornelius Elliott (m. 1907). On Cornelius's 1907 civil marriage record his father John Elliott is given as a Weaver (Cornelius himself a labourer, of 5 Phoenix St, Cork). Given as a labourer of 7 Blarney St in 1876, a weaver by 1907. ORIGIN FOUND AND PROVEN (5 Jul 2026): bapt. 10 Apr 1842 at Golden RC, Co. Tipperary, TWIN with James, son of Robert Elliott & Julia (Julianna) Connors (NLI register image: "Jn. & Jas. of Robt. Elliot & Julia Connors, sp. Wm. Holmes & Margt. Ryan, Francis Enright & Cathn. Connors, Golden"). The join - first ~ on Jeanne Elliott's identification - was DOCUMENTED the same day when Aynsley produced the CIVIL MARRIAGE RECORD (Cork North East, St Patrick's RC, entry 113, 4 Nov 1865): John Elliott, aged 23 [= b. c.1842, exact fit], bachelor, LABOURER, of Forster's Lane; father ROBERT ELLIOTT, labourer - the pre-registered discriminator, satisfied. Bride Hanora Sheehan, 21, spinster, servant, of Birds Quay; father CORNELIUS SHEEHAN, labourer. Priest Patrick Reardon; witnesses Robert Tayler & Margaret Callaghan, both by mark, each mark attested "Wit. F. Cunninghame" (as was Honora's own). Register copy in Research files. Jeanne's claim-grade extras stand apart, still unverified: army service in China & the Boer War (the China element now traced to a false record-match - see Cornelius's note - and a THIRD military namesake is parked, now fully identified from his discharge file: No. 302 John Elliott, Pte 5th Foot, labourer, b. ~1808 in BRIGOWN parish [Mitchelstown], Co. Cork; enlisted 19 May 1825 aged 17; 20 yrs 296 days' service, 8.5 abroad (Malta/Ionian Isles/Gibraltar); NINE court-martial imprisonments 1827-45; discharged unfit Chatham 25 Jan 1848, conduct "Bad", intended residence JERSEY. A Cork-born soldier John Elliott = seductive match-bait, but excluded three ways: b. ~1808 vs our John b. 1842; Brigown vs our line's Golden-to-Cork road of the 1860s; gone to Jersey 1848. NOT OURS), later Weighmaster in Cork, d. 1918 (John's own service papers still awaited - note his son Cornelius's 1894 attestation names him at 36 WARREN'S PLACE, Cork, and the next-of-kin annotation (marginal date 1907 or 1909, part-legible) implies John alive at least to c.1907-09, consistent with Jeanne's d. 1918). Aynsley's maternal 2x great-grandfather (corrected July 2026 - previously mis-styled 3x; he is father of great-grandfather Cornelius). Added June 2026; Golden origin proposed and PROVEN 5 Jul 2026. Cunninghame). The father's name PROVES the Golden origin (see @F99033@); Cornelius Sheehan explains the naming of Cornelius Elliott.
