About
John Herrick came to Ireland with the Duke of Ormonde in 1662 and founded the family at Shippool in County Cork. He was born in 1612, of the Leicestershire Herricks, though the connection to that family has never been demonstrated.

THE HERRICK FOUNDER IN IRELAND: John Herrick, b. 1612, 'accompanied the Duke of Ormonde to Ireland 1641'; m. twice; d. 8 Aug 1689. By his 1st wife a son GERSHOM (our line, to whom he devised the Shippool-area estate); by his 2nd, John (bequeathed an estate in the Barony of Ibane), Francis and Mary. His English origin is not given by Burke's - the English Herricks (of Leicestershire; kin of Robert Herrick the poet) are the traditional stock, NOT YET PROVEN for this family. END OF LINE.
