✓ John O'Carroll, Lord of Ely (Eile, the O'Carroll lordship in south Offaly and north Tipperary, centred on Birr and Leap): AFM 1489: 'O'Carroll, i.e. John, Lord of Ely' among the deaths of that year. Father of Mulrony (Sir Maolrony, d. 1532; AFM 1522 'O'Carroll (Mulrony, the son of John)'), of Owny Carragh (AFM 1533 'Owny Carragh, son of John') and of Donough (AFM 1536 'Donough O'Carroll deposed Ferganainm, and Owny Carragh, his own brother'). His sons fought each other for the lordship: Mulrony's 'last victory' (1532) was over the Earl of Ormond and 'the sons of John O'Carroll'. So More, Countess of Desmond (Mulrony's daughter) and Mor, wife of Turlogh Mac-I-Brien-Ara (Donough's daughter, per O'Hart) were first cousins - two lines of this tree meet in him. O'Hart gen. 122 'John O'Carroll, prince of Ely', son of Maolruanaidh na Feisoige (gen. 121) - his own parentage not yet wired.
