Research notes

✓ DOCUMENTED (web-confirmed 25 Jul 2026): LUCY FITZPIERS, dau. of Reginald FitzPiers, Lord of Blaen Llyfni (Blewleveney); wife of William de Ros of Helmsley (d.1264); mother of Robert de Ros (our line). Direct ancestress. Added 25 Jul 2026. ||CP-CONFIRMED 8 Aug 2026|| Cokayne, CP1 ROS (Helmsley) p.400 (entry I), supplied by Aynsley, confirms this: Robert de Ros 1st Lord was 's. and h. of William de Ros ... by LUCY, da. of Reginald FitzPiers of Blewleveny in Wales.' Our FitzPiers->FitzHerbert->Miles of Gloucester line stands. || *** PARENTS DETACHED 19 Oct 2026 (agreed with Aynsley): CP XI (2nd ed.) p.94 note (h) says only 'He m. Lucy' (Rievaulx Chartulary); her descent from Reginald FitzPiers of Blewlebeny rests on Dugdale citing Glover, Somerset Herald, and CP points out Reynold FitzPiers did not marry until 1249 - too late to be her father (her son Robert b. c.1223). 'If she belonged to this family, she was presumably sister of Herbert FitzPiers and of his br. and h. Reynold FitzPiers, and da. of Piers FitzHerbert' - unproved, so no parents wired. || Detached branch archived 19 Oct 2026 in 'Research files/Detached_branches_2026-10-19.ged' (original IDs kept) - see that file to restore if new evidence turns up.
