~ Maud (Matilda), wife of William de Vieuxpont and mother of Robert de Vipont. Dugdale makes her a daughter of Hugh de Morville of Oswaldkirk; the DNB notes she was perhaps connected with Thomas FitzGospatric's house - neither proved, so no surname is given. Source: Wikipedia 'Robert de Vieuxpont' (DNB, Hunt 1899; Rot. Norm. p.49; Dugdale, Baronage i.348). [DIRECT ANCESTOR OF THE COMPILER: flag added 19 Oct 2026 by walking the tree from Aynsley, so that this marker is reliable and can be searched.] || WIRED 19 Oct 2026 at ~ (Aynsley's decision): ODNB (Stringer, 'Morville, Hugh de (d.1162)', as cited by Wikipedia) names Maud de Morville, wife of William de Vieuxpont, among the children of Hugh de Morville, Constable of Scotland (I100752) and Beatrice de Beauchamp; Henry II regranted Westmorland to her in 1174 on the forfeiture of her brother Hugh, one of Becket's murderers. Graded ~ because it rests on the ODNB as reported, not on a charter seen here. RING: the Vipont/Clifford and Morville lines meet in her.
