✓ Maud, da. of Simon de St Liz, Earl of Northampton, by Maud of Huntingdon; 1st wife of Robert fitz Richard (yr. s. of Richard fitz Gilbert of Clare and Tonbridge, d. 1134/6, bur. St Neots) and mother of Walter fitz Robert (d. 1198), lord of Dunmow and Baynard's Castle: CP V 'FitzWalter' p.472 n.(f), 'Walter was s. and h. of Robert fitz Richard (who d. in 1134 (1136, according to R. de Monte), and was bur. in the Priory of St. Neot), by Maud (d. in 1140), da. of Simon de St. Liz, Earl of Northampton.' CP VI 'Huntingdon' p.639 n.(f) records that William of Jumieges gives a daughter of Waltheof as wife of 'a Robert son of Richard' and suggests confusion with this Maud; Watson's FitzWalter article (CP V) is followed here. By the standard accounts (Medieval Lands; CP XII/2 'Winchester') she m. 2ndly Saher de Quincy and was mother of Robert de Quincy (I100042) - that second marriage is NOT yet wired: left for Aynsley's CP XII/2 page (noted 27 Oct 2026). Also mother of Maud fitz Robert (I101308, wife of William d'Aubigny II of Belvoir), hitherto misnamed 'Matilda de Senlis' in this file. RING 27 Oct 2026. Source: Complete Peerage 2nd ed. vol. Children by Saher [I]: Saher [II] (b. c.1138), Robert (I100042, 'granted the castle of Forfar by his cousin (through his mother) William the Lion') and a third. The death in 1140 given by the Dunmow narrative (and repeated in CP V) is contradicted by the 1157/58 Pipe Roll naming 'Matildi de Seinliz' in Essex and Herts, 'suggesting that this related to her dower land soon after the death of her husband' - death now entered as 1157/63.
