✓ Maurice FitzThomas (b. c.1197, d. before 1253), younger brother of John FitzThomas (d.1261, I100239) ancestor of the Earls of Desmond; both sons of Thomas FitzMaurice of Shanid (d.1213, I100240) - RING 26 Oct 2026 into the Desmond line. Hostage in England at his father's death; sent back to Ireland 1215 in charge of the Justiciar Geoffrey Marsh, his lands in custody of Thomas FitzAnthony; built castles and held a court at Altry in the first half of the 13th century (Orpen, JRSAI xliv p.99; EHR xxix p.302, xxxi pp.488-9).
