✓ More, da. of Donogh O'Brien, of Carrigogunnell, co. Limerick; wife of Sir John of Desmond (d.1536); mother of James FitzJohn, 13th Earl of Desmond (CP IV p.249: 'being 2nd but 1st surv. s. and h. male of Sir John of Desmond, by More, da. of Donogh O'Brien, of Carrigogunnell'). The O'Briens of Carrigogunnell were a cadet branch of Thomond (Pobblebrien); her father not wired. Source: Complete Peerage 2nd edn vol. IV (1916), 'Desmond' pp.232-250 (article by G.W. Watson), read 25-26 Oct 2026 (archive.org djvu text). [DIRECT ANCESTOR OF THE COMPILER: flag added 26 Oct 2026 by walking the tree from Aynsley, so that this marker is reliable and can be searched.] ||26 Oct 2026|| Father not identifiable: the O'Briens of Carrigogunnell (Pobblebrien, co. Limerick) appear in AFM 1580.12 and 1585.19 as 'the Lord of Pobble-Brien and Carrigogunnell, Brian Duv, the son of Donough, son of Mahon, son of Donough, son of Brian Duv O'Brien' - the earlier Donough (son of Brian Duv, fl. c.1470-1500) is the right generation to be More's father, but no source read names him as such; the branch descends by pedigree from Brian Ruadh O'Brien, King of Thomond (k. 1277). Not wired.
