✓ Murtough (Muirchertach) O'Conor Faly, Lord of Offaly, killed in 1305 by Sir Piers Bermingham (Mac Feorais) 'by means of treachery and deceit' in Bermingham's own castle at Carbury, co. Kildare, together with his brother Maelmora, Calvagh O'Conor and 'twenty-nine of the chiefs of his people' (AFM 1305.1; Annals of Connacht 1305.2 names Carbury Castle). The Carbury massacre (traditionally at a Trinity Sunday feast) was one of the outrages cited against the English in the Remonstrance of the Irish princes to Pope John XXII (1317). The king-lists give him as 'Muirchertach mac Muirchertaig', but no annal seen names his father - TOP. [DIRECT ANCESTOR OF THE COMPILER: flag added 28 Oct 2026 by walking the tree from Aynsley, so that this marker is reliable and can be searched.] ||28 Oct 2026 - TOP CONFIRMED|| Above him the Uí Failghe king-list (Wikipedia) gives only the order of kings (Muirchertach mac Mael Morda from 1225; Mael Morda mac Muirchertaig meic Donnchada d. 1225); it does not state that he was a son of Muirchertach mac Mael Morda, and AFM 1222-1301 (read 28 Oct 2026) gives no O'Conor Faly patronymic that would connect them (only Melaghlin, slain 1227, and Calvagh, 1289). An AI-generated chain (Donnchadh d. 1284 / Cuilen / Congallach d. 1211) and a 'Gormflaith daughter of Art MacMurrough' as Murrough's wife were checked and rejected: no source.
