Nest ferch Cadell of Powys

~ Nest of Powys, daughter of Cadell ap Brochfael, King of Powys; wife of Merfyn Frych and mother of Rhodri Mawr, who in 855 succeeded 'his maternal uncle' Cyngen ap Cadell in Powys. Recorded only in manuscripts of the later 14th century; Medieval Lands notes a rival tradition (Ethyll, heiress of Cynan) and the possibility that both were inventions - hence ~. Her father not wired. Source: Medieval Lands (fmg.ac, Cawley), 'Wales Kings & Princes'.
