Ordono the Second moved the royal seat down from the mountains to the city of Leon and made it a capital, trading Asturian safety for Leonese ambition. He raided as far as the walls of cordoban Talavera, suffered for it at Valdejunquera, and died in 924, King of a realm now named for its city. His queen was Elvira Menendez of the Galician house this tree carries.
