Research notes

✓ Peter de Brus, lord of Skelton in Cleveland, son of Peter de Brus (d. c.1222) and Joan; husband of Hawise de Lancaster, through whom half the barony of Kendal came to the Bruses: the writ of 25 Dec 1246 after the death of William [III] de Lancaster names 'Peter de Brus of full age and Walter son of William de Lyndeseys aged 16' as his heirs (the sons of his sisters Hawise and Alice), and the 1272 inquisition on that Peter (Cal. IPM I no. 800) returns in Westmorland 'a moiety of all the lands which were of William de Lancastre'. Died at Marseille on his way to the Holy Land, 13 Sep 1241, buried at Guisborough (Medieval Lands, citing the Guisborough cartulary). Children: Peter (d. 1272 s.p.), Agnes (Fauconberg), LUCY (Thweng - our line), Margaret (Ros of Wark), Laderina (Bellew).
