Research notes

Richard Bagot, of Blithfield (d. 1597), Sheriff of Staffordshire, keeper of the great Bagot correspondence; m. Mary, dau. of William Saunders of Welford, Northants. Source: History of Parliament (under his son Walter). THE LINE ABOVE HIM: the Bagots run by the published pedigree through Thomas Bagot and Sir Lewis Bagot (d. 1534, courtier of Henry VII/VIII) toward the medieval Bagots of Blithfield (seated there from the 14th century, at Bagot's Bromley before that) and by tradition to Bagod of Domesday (1086) - one of the oldest documented families in England, still at Blithfield today. NOT entered as individuals: verify in Burke's Peerage ('Bagot, Baron Bagot') before extending; and remember the whole group sits on the ~ William Lane join. END OF LINE as entered. Added July 2026.
