About
Robert Blanchmains, third Earl of Leicester, inherited his father's justiciarship and threw it away magnificently, joining the Young King's great rebellion against Henry II in 1173; captured at Fornham with his amazon countess beside him, he was imprisoned, forgiven, restored, and died in 1190 on the road home from pilgrimage. His daughter Margaret married the Quincy who would stand surety for the charter - rebellion ran in the blood, and this family has it twice.
