About
Robert FitzMaurice is the head of the documented Kerry line, of the stock of the Geraldines who came into Ireland with the invasion of 1169. He held lands at Tipperkevin in Kildare and seems to have received the grant of the Kerry cantreds that became the territory of Clanmaurice, the family's country for the next five hundred years.

✓ DOCUMENTED (Source: Burke's Peerage (modern edn), LANSDOWNE lineage pp.2237-38, re-photographed and read 22 Jul 2026.): ROBERT FITZMAURICE (cross-referenced "see LEINSTER, D" - i.e. of the stock of Maurice FitzGerald, d. 1176, Strongbow's companion in the invasion of 1169: that link note-only, extendable from the Leinster article); held lands in Tipperkevin, co. Kildare, "and seems to have had a grant of the cantred of Otornas and Offlannon, Co Kerry, which formed the basis of the later territory of CLANMAURICE."
