Rohesia de St Michel married Thomas FitzMaurice of the Geraldines and was mother of John, first Earl of Kildare - the infant carried from the fire at Woodstock. The St Michels were of the Norman-Irish settlement, and through Rohesia the earldom's founding generation had its mother.
