About

Ruth Riggs of Riggsdale married the Cork merchant Caleb Falkiner; their eldest son was made a baronet, and their daughter Elizabeth carried the line into the Herricks. Her sister Frances stands elsewhere in this same tree, so two Riggs sisters reach it by different roads.

Research notes

✓ DOCUMENTED (Wikipedia/thepeerage, 'Sir Riggs Falkiner 1st Bt': 'son of Caleb Falkiner, a merchant of Cork city, and his wife Ruth Riggs, daughter of Edward Riggs of Riggsdale'; web-confirmed 6 Aug 2026): RUTH RIGGS, dau. of EDWARD RIGGS of Riggsdale (I99032, already in the tree - this rung LOOPS the Falkiners onto the existing Riggs, making Edward Riggs DOUBLY ancestral via Ruth and Frances). Wife of Caleb Falkiner; mother of Sir Riggs Falkiner 1st Bt (collateral) and - per the standard account, graded ~ pending the Burke's Peerage FALKINER article - of Elizabeth Falkiner (our line). Direct ancestress. ||UPGRADED ✓ 6 Aug 2026 (Burke's Peerage FALKINER, p.1380)|| 'CALEB FALKINER, of Cork; merchant; m 1st 1707 RUTH (d by 1727), dau of EDWARD RIGGS, of Riggsdale, Co Cork, and had: 1a RIGGS FALKINER (Sir), 1st Bt. 1a ELIZABETH; m 1728 [E.] Herrick, of Shippool.' Elizabeth is thus DOCUMENTED as Ruth's daughter (Caleb's 2nd wife Mary Newport's only recorded dau was Caroline) - maternity grade raised from ~ to ✓. Married 1707; died by 1727, the year before her daughter's wedding.
