About

Sir James Ware the elder was Auditor-General of Ireland, the officer responsible for auditing the Crown's Irish accounts. He is the father of this family's ancestress Martha, and the father also of Sir James Ware the historian and antiquary, the collector of the Ware manuscripts. There is a quiet symmetry in him for a family whose present head is a chartered accountant.
