Research notes
✓ DOCUMENTED per COMPLETE PEERAGE, 1st edn (Cokayne), vol. VI, 'Oxford' article, entry VII (the 7th Earl), supplied by Aynsley 7 Aug 2026: 'JOHN (de Vere), Earl of Oxford ... being s. and h. of Sir Alphonso de Vere, by JANE, da. of SIR RICHARD FOLIOT.' This SUPERSEDES the earlier note-only doubt: CP is explicit and is credited over the online trees that made her a daughter of his son Jordan Foliot, 1st Baron Foliot (Aynsley's evidence-weighting rule; tested-reliable source wins). Gressenhall came to the Foliots via Margery de Stuteville; the pedigree above Richard is left note-only/floor. Wired 7 Aug 2026. ||NB 8 Aug 2026|| This Richard (Jane's father) is NOT the Richard Foliot of the barony (I100366, Margaret Foliot's father, b.1284) - chronology forbids it (Jane's son b.1313). The two Richards are kept separate; Jane and Margaret Foliot are NOT sisters.
