✓ Sir Thomas Swynnerton, knight, brother and heir of Robert Swynnerton, clerk (d. June 23 Edw. III); d. December 35 Edw. III (1361). Leycester's text calls the first holder 'sir Robert Swynerton, banneret, died 12 Edw. III' after naming the banneret as Sir Roger - so the generation above Thomas is not wired. TOP - nothing further wired. Source: Ormerod, History of the County Palatine and City of Chester (1819), vol. I, pp.526-527 'the descent of the Savages of Clifton' (Sir Peter Leycester, from the Rock Savage evidences), read 2 Nov 2026 (archive.org djvu text). [DIRECT ANCESTOR OF THE COMPILER: flag added 2 Nov 2026 by walking the tree from Aynsley, so that this marker is reliable and can be searched.] ||2 Nov 2026 - PARENTS AND WIFE WIRED|| Swynnerton account (SHC VII): Sir Thomas, younger son of Sir Roger, Lord Swynnerton (d. 1338), succeeded his brother Robert the priest 1349; Knight Banneret at Crecy; usher of Edward III's hall; captured in Scotland 1356; a keeper of King John of France; d. Dec 1361; m. Maud, da. of Sir Robert de Holand and sister of Thomas Holand, Earl of Kent (also CP VI 'Holand'). Grade raised to ✓ (generation above now read). Alice de Swinnerton, Lady Gresley (I102120): the account believes her a da. of Sir Thomas, Harland makes her da. of Sir Roger, and it says she d.s.p. - which conflicts with Madan (mother of Nicholas Gresley); NOT linked, conflict noted. TOP removed. Source: [C. Swynnerton], 'An Account of the Family of Swynnerton', Collections for a History of Staffordshire (William Salt Archaeological Society) vol.
