✓ Teige (Tadhg) O'Carroll, Lord ('king') of Ely, father of Mulrony (AFM 1443) and of Margaret 'an Einigh' ('of the hospitality'; d. 1451), wife of Calvagh O'Conor Faly, whose two great feasts for the poets and learned of Ireland in 1433 are famous (AFM 1433, 1451: 'Margaret, daughter of O'Carroll (Teige)'; Simms in ODNB makes her father Tadhg, chief of Ely). The Tadhg O Cerbaill, king of Ely, who was captured by the Earl of Ormond in 1399 (Chronicon Scotorum) and killed in 1407 at Callan (Annals of Ulster: 'a great defeat at Callaidh' on Walter de Burgh and Tadhg Ua Cerbhaill; Annals of Connacht: 'a great victory by the Galls and Scrope over the Gaels of Munster, wherein Tadc O Cerbaill, king of Ely, was slain... a general protector to the poets of Ireland and Scotland'; AFM: 'general patron of the literati of Ireland') is very probably this man. CONFLICT NOTED, not acted on: O'Hart has TWO Teiges here - gen. 119 'Teige of Callen' and his son gen. 120 'Teige Aibhle Magh Glaisse', father of Mulrony - so on O'Hart's count the man killed at Callan would be Mulrony's grandfather. The annals name only one chief Teige in this period and call both Mulrony and Margaret children of 'Teige O'Carroll'; the extra generation is O'Hart's alone. Wired once, as Mulrony's father, without an epithet. TOP: above him O'Hart's stem (Roger gen. 118, William 117, Maolruanaidh 116 ... Cearbhall gen. 105, from whom the name, ... to Cian son of Olioll Olum, gen. 85) rests on the genealogies alone, with no annal corroboration found; the early part is legend. Not wired. [DIRECT ANCESTOR OF THE COMPILER: flag added 28 Oct 2026 by walking the tree from Aynsley, so that this marker is reliable and can be searched.] ||28 Oct 2026 - DAUGHTER ADDED (w73)|| Margaret 'an Einigh' (d. 1451), wife of Calvagh O'Conor Faly, mother of Mor, wife of Mac William of Clanricarde - so Teige is an ancestor through both his son Mulrony and his daughter Margaret. Simms, 'O'Carroll, Margaret (d. 1451)', Oxford Dictionary of National Biography, as cited in Wikipedia 'Margaret O'Carroll' (read 28 Oct 2026) for her children: sons Conn, Cathal, Feidhlim, Brian, Tadhg; daughters Mor (d. 1452) and Fionnghuala (d. 1493).
